The monastery was built in the Renaissance. It still is a peaceful place where the big summer sun reveals the intimate atmosphere in the dark and cold halls. Sant'Anna also offers bed and breakfast. Supper is served while all guests are sitting at long tables, all together, just like the monks used to do.

The Monastery was famous for richness of medicines. A lot of pilgrims used the hostel as a resting place on their way to Rome . Ill people looked up the monks for their knowledge and know-how. The combination of religion and medicines can be found in the equipped quarantine room. Here, sick monks could follow the masses through a hole in the chapel wall.

Around the monastery of Sant'Anna a domain of 300 hectare stretches out. The breeding of pigs and calves reminds the visitor of the way the monks used to live. In the garden of the monastery about fifty lemon trees surround an old well with trellis-work. This place is the favourite decor for students of the school of painters who come here in search of peace and inspiration.
